Kaizen is the process of incremental redesign, where something is made better through a process that improves the said thing in every iteration. It is supposed to make something better gradually, and as one of the 7 themes says "Good design is continual redesign"
My team did the queues, and we originally had the concept of a virtual queue system. We thought that people might get more exercise and be more entertained if they spent time other than waiting in lines.
Using kaizen, one could make a small change in which the amount of steps somehow correlates to queue length. My team felt that we needed to incentivize the process and give people some reason to walk around. This is a small change, but my team felt it would have a big impact.
