Hoekman discusses many things one can do to make a site appealing and easy to use. In chapter 7, words such as uniformity, consistency, and meaning are used to describe how to achieve a good site. For example, Hoekman says that uniformity allows the user to quickly and easily learn. When interfaces are consistent with past interfaces, users can apply their previously learned knowledge to complete the task easily and quickly.

An example of theme 4 and chapter 7 would be the auction site, EBAY. The thing I notice right off the bat with the home page is its setup. The top and left of the site is devoted to the navigation area; from this part of the page you can navigate to anywhere on the site. The rest of the page is devoted to the actual content. When navigating the site, the only part that really changes is the content. Everything else stay very uniform and consistent. The top of the site stays exactly the same all the time; the side of the site changes but still displays the merchandise options. The site is uniformly white and neutral, making it visually appealing.
